Rehab and Recovery

Rehab and Recovery

What does it really mean? First of all the two shouldn’t be confused as being the same. They’re not. Rehab, at its best, is getting a person clean and sober for a minimum of 30 days from something that has been controlling his or her life – drugs and/or alcohol treatment at Bayshore Retreat to be specific. “Recovery” is different. In general, it’s dealing with the issues of living day to day, hour by hour, without the mind altering substances, drugs and/or alcohol.

It can be said that most people are recovering from something. For some it might be the grief of a lost loved one, a business failure or childhood abuse. Regardless “recovery” is what one does to get past the hurt without using mind altering substances such as drugs or alcohol. One must find a way to move beyond the pain, loss or grief and start anew.
Rehab at Bayshore Reteat is exactly that; a jump start to starting anew. A drug and alcohol treatment plan is designed specifically for each individual. First by providing a warm home-like environment, preparing wholesome meals and finally by helping each client develop a lifestyle that’s health oriented. With only six clients at a time we’re able to help each one find ways of coping with the loss or pain and fill the ‘hole’ in his or her life.
Is it over when they leave Bayshore Retreat? Are they cured of the addiction? Not necessarily, that’s where the ‘recovery’ comes in. They must use the tools and wisdom they’ve gotten about their addiction to avoid relapsing. Based on what they’ve shared we work with them on an exit or after care plan that will help them continue their ‘recovery’ in the best possible way. Most importantly, help is only a phone call away, always.

At Bayshore Retreat we have extensive knowledge in treating substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues. We understand that Mental Health Disorders can be the root cause of substance abuse. We use the latest scientific research and holistic approach for drug and alcohol addiction treatment.
